Honoured Guests

Following are some of the famous Sheikhs, Imaams and honoured invitees that Masjid At-Taqwa have had the pleasure of hosting in the past. Each of our guests have taken time out to presenting lectures or talks, and in some cases, an opportunity to listen to them recite some Quranic Verses.

Abdullah Alhumoudi was born in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Has been an Imaam since 2012, leading prayers in many masjids, including Wolverhampton, Birmingham, London and Leicester. Alhumdulillah, in the first half of Ramadhan 2015, he lead the Taraweeh prayers alongside the resident Imaams.

Former Imaam of Masjid Haram in Palestine and is the Khadim of the Haram and other mosques in Jerusalem

Muhammad Manwar Ali (Abu Muntasir) was born in 1959.

Sheikh Abu Muntasir has been actively involved in Dawah for the past 30 years. The Sheikh is the serving Academic Director for the Sacred Sciences Curriculum, delivering courses in his specialisations of Seerah, Hadith, Ihsan studies and Muslim family life. He also holds a B.Sc. (Hons) M.Sc. in Computer Science and a MA in Islamic Studies as well as a diploma in Arabic.

He is currently the Chief Executive of JIMAS and is currently holding various public positions such as

i) chaplain for University Campus Suffolk, Suffolk New College, and the Ipswich Hospital,
ii) member of the Local Scrutiny & Involvement Panel (LSIP) for the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) East England, and
iii) member of the Police Crime Panel for Police & Crime Commissioner (Suffolk).

Born in 1970 in and raised up in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), where he graduated in Quran studies from Shaykh Ayman Rushdi Suwaid in 1416AH.

Saudi imam and world renowned Quran reciter. He is also a very knowledgeable scholar of Islam, treating with excellence diverse subjects in the religion of our prophet Mohammed. He is currently the imam of Al Furkane Mosque in Hay Annassim, Jeddah.

Born and raised in Birmingham, United Kingdom.

Sheikh Ahsan Hanif memorised the Quran when only 13 years old and gained scholarship to study at the Islamic University of Medina. After completing his Arabic diploma, he graduated from the Faculty of Shari’ah in 2006 with honours. During his time in Madinah, he was fortunate enough to gain ijazah in the Qur’an as well as studying under a number of well known scholars, such as Sheikh Abdul Muhsin al-Abbad, Sheikh Muhammad ibn Muhammad Mukhtar al-Shinqiti, Sheikh Sulayman al-Ruhayli and many more. In the UK, he completed his PhD in Islamic Studies from the University of Birmingham

Sheikh Ahsan Hanif has delivered various lectures and halaqaat within Green Lane Masjid and throughout the UK, and is currently an instructor for Al-Maghrib Institute.

Born April 14, 1987. Boona is a Canadian spoken-word poet and writer of Oromo descent.

He is a critically acclaimed award winning writer and performer with accolades including a playwright residency at Theatre Passe Muraille, a short story published in a Penguin Canada anthology called “Piece by Piece” and various slam poetry titles credits including winner of the 2007 CBC Poetry Face-Off “Best New Artist” award.

His popularity, with the aid of Youtube videos, has catapulted Boona to the mainstream audience around the world, and shared the stage alongside some of the most influencial Islamic scholars and entertainers today.

Away from poetry, Boonaa Mohammed is the founder of Safina Media, an Islamic media production company and continued the art of story-telling through various platforms of media.

Born in Algeria, he moved and currently has been living in Canada for over 15 years. In 1993 he graduated in Sharī’ah (BA) from the Islamic University of Madinah.

Sheikh Hacene is currently a religious director in IISC Islamic centre in Calgary where he gives regular classes and counselling. He is also an online instructor for Knowledge International University (KIU).

Originates from Khartoum, Sudan.

Known as the Black Belt of Dawah, his lectures and online videos have also gained popular fame and positive impact among Muslims and non-Muslims alike. Best recognised from his workshop “How to Give Shahadah in 10 Minutes”, a 6-hour workshop designed to empower MSAs and Dawah organizations in the art of Dawah. He also teaches a number of intensive courses designed for the youth and specialises in the field of Islamic History.

Currently an instructor at AlMaghrib Institute.

Bornin Madinah, Saudi Arabia

Sh Muhammad Khaleel is the Imam of Masjid Quba in Madinah where he has served as the Imam for the last 25 years.

In his years as Imaam, Sheikh Muhammad has taught many leading Imaams including the likes of Sheikh Mishary Rashid Alafasy. Sheikh Muhammad’s father Khalilur Rahman Al Qari was also a prominent scholar and teacher of the Quran who taught many Imaams including the Imaams of the Haram in Makkah including Sheikh Ali Jaber and Sheikh Muhammad Subayyal.

Born in 1975 and raised in Canada.

In his youth, he memorized the Quran and later graduated with an Islamic Law degree from the Islamic University of Madinah.

He is the founder of the AlMaghrib Institute seminars have been conducted across the USA and Canada, as well as in Australia. Muhammad Al Shareef has also founded EmanRush Audio and Khutbah.com, and actively keeps in touch with the online community at the AlMaghrib Forums.

Born in Montreal, Quebec 1981.

He completed an Associate’s degree in Commerce and Social Sciences before heading to the illustrious Islamic University of Madinah. He has a diploma in the Arabic language as well as a Bachelors in Shari’ah (Islamic Law), with a specialization in Fiqh and Usul Al-Fiqh.

His main areas of interests include Aqeedah, Hadeeth, Qawaa’id fiqhiyah and Maqaasid ash-Shari’ah

Currently one of the AlMaghrib instructors, as well as an Islamic editor for Recess Kids magazine in North America and Little Explorers magazine in the United Kingdom

Born and studied in Pakistan.

He studied qira’at and tajweed for two years and seven years Islamic Studies, graduating with a Shahadatul Alamiya, which is the equivalence to a Masters in Islamic Studies.

He is currently the Imam at Green Lane Masjid where he leads the daily prayers, and he also delivers lectures and classes on a variety of topics in Urdu. The Sheikh also has a dedicated Q&A session every Monday and Wednesday mornings.

Sheikh Sajid Umar was born here in Leicester, UK, but studied his early education in Harare (Zimbabwe), where he studied IT and obtained a first class degree.

He had memorised the Quran by the age of 18 and has completed a University Diploma in Arabic language and Islamic Sciences, a Bachelors degree in Shari’ah, and a masters degree in Judiciary (Qadha).

He has spent much of his semester breaks teaching various Islamic and development programs for the youth and adults worldwide. He a Senior Lecturer at Knowledge International University (KIU) and a member of their Academic Management Team. In addition, he is also the ‘Director of Islamic Development’ for Mercy Mission World, al-Kauthar and Student’s Guild Lecturer, Chief Islamic Editor for Little Explorers Magazine, and project manager for several media related programs specific to Islamic Satellite Channels.

He is an Imam and Khateeb of the largest Masjid in Zimbabwe.

About the Sheikh 

Born in Al-Ahsa, Saudi Arabia 1970. 

At the tender age of 15, he became an imam and started to lead prayers, alongside his teacher Sheikh Ahmed As-Salmy. He has a bachelor degree in Islamic law and also studied in Institute of Higher learning in magistracy.

Currently the permanent imaam of Masjid Al-Nawabi in Medina, Saudi Arabia.

Sheikh Tausif ur Rahman Rashidi has devoted his life in eliminating different sects who are involved in great sins like Shirk and propagating the version of Islam based on only the Quran and authentic sayings of the Prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him).

Sheikh Tausif ur Rahman is currently associated with Islamic Dawah and Guiding Center, Sulay, Riyadh.

Born Joseph Estes, 1944 in Ohio, United States, before converting from Christianity to Islam in 1991 and changing his name to Yusuf Estes.

Has been an active Islamic missionary since converting to a Muslim, and has appeared on various Islamic conferences and satellite TV stations.

Born in 1956 in Changhaipur (Padtabgadh), a small town in Uttar Pradesh, India.

He acquired the ‘Alimiyat and Fadhilat degree from Jami’a Salafiya in Banaras, UP, India, before earning the Munshi and Maulvi degree from Jami’a Salafia, Banaras. He was given the opportunity to travel to Medina, where he completed his degree from the faculty of Hadith from Madina Al Munawwarah.

Working in the United Arab Emirates in the field of Da’wah for almost 25 years. He has received invitations to speak in many international Islamic conferences and visits India on a frequent basis for spreading and teaching the people about Islam. In 2004 he was chosen by the government of Saudi Arabia to be the official teacher for Hajj and the rulings surrounding it.

Authored several books, among them the two most popular ones being Tariqaa-e-Hajj & Ahkaam-e-Aqiqa.
