At Taqwa Children and Youth, held its annual Eid Fun Day on Saturday 25th July 2015.
Our purpose has always been to facilitate in the physical, educational, moral and spiritual development of our children according to the Quran and Sunnah; to help them become valuable members of society and ambassadors for Islam.
Our previous events have been exclusively for children, but Alhumdulillah, this year we decided to make our Eid Fun Day bigger and better.
In order to cater for our younger children we opened admission to mums and toddlers too. Age specific activities were split across the two main Attaqwa sites – Mornington street hall and the community hall, plus the car park area on Harewood Street.
The Mornington Street site was set up especially for Mothers with their children (aged up to seven years). A whole array of activities here included a giant slide, bouncy castle, soft play, puppet show, balloon modelling, face painting and henna.
Activities at Harewood street were more suited for older children and included a plethora of exciting activities, including – laser tag, human bar football, bouncy boxing, an obstacle course, space hopper challenge, tug of war as well as garden games like a giant buzzer, snakes and ladders, giant Jenga and hoops.
Alhumdulillah, by Allah’s Mercy, the weather held out for a memorable day for the children, youth and mums in our community.
As with all our events, although we strive to the best of our ability, there is always room for improvement and we welcome all feedback. MashaAllah, we have received some excellent reviews from mums and youngsters alike which you can read below.
In organising the Eid fun day we hope our youngsters have benefitted from Eid as a beautifully joyous occasion which Allah has blessed us with. We also hope it has been a means for us to increase a sense of unity and love in our community as well as develop important character and social skills in our youngsters.
Some of the feedback we received from the event:
“This event didn’t need to happen at all but members of the community made this happen and contributed to us younger ones having a fun time and appreciate the celebration of Eid. This also built a closer relationship of Islamic brother/sisterhood. The helpers played a big role giving their time for our safety and management. Because of this there was lots of order and organisation. The bouncy castles and games were very fun for the suitable ages” Safwaan, aged 14
“Assalamu alaikum, I would like to thank everyone involved in organizing and running the Eid fun event , my children had the best day and enjoyed all the activities and entertainment provided throughout the day, I hope there are many more fun days organized like this, Jazakalah khairan and May Allah reward you all, Ameen.” Parent
A Special Thanks to the following people who helped make the Eid Fun Day a special day for all: MB-Events/Anstey castle hire, Lisa Lolly Children’s Entertainer and Tickled Skink exotic animal experience.
