On Sunday 1st March, representatives of Masjid At-Taqwa attended the Federation of Muslim Organisations’ annual meeting. Many Islamic organisations were present including welfare charities, Muslim schools and 11 Mosques.
The meeting was used to provide updates on the work done by the FMO over
the last year as well as a review of their budget and spending.
Also presenting to the audience was Commander of the local police constabulary, Bill Knopp. He provided a presentation on the CTS bill and his strategy for delivering security to the community. His emphasis was on making clear that the bill was about safeguarding vulnerable people and not spying on communities. The presentation raised a healthy and productive debate on the concerns the Muslim communities have over the implementation of the bill.
Masjid At-Taqwa is a participating member of the FMO and continues to provide its active support towards the promotion of collaborating to do good for the community of Leicester.
The Federation of Muslim Organisations (FMO) is a registered charity that exists to service the needs of the Muslim Communities of Leicester and borough of Leicestershire. To learn more about the FMO click here.
