On Wednesday 16th July, worshippers attending the pre-dawn Fajr prayer at Masjid At-Taqwa were pleasantly surprised to find Sheikh Abu Bakr Al-Shatri leading the congregational prayer.
The large attending congregation were moved by the spiritually uplifting recitation of the Quran and the beautiful manner in which it was recited. The all too familiar voice of Sheikh Abu Bakr Al-Shatri was a welcoming joy to all who were present.
After the completion of the prayers he turned to the congregation and gave a short reminder about the blessed month of Ramadan and its benefits. He highlighted that Ramadan is the month in which the Quran was revealed and it is the month in wich the people return to the speech of Almighty God.
He then continued on to state that the Quran is the source of guidance and happiness in ones life. He described the ones who will benefit from the guidance of the Quran as the ones who seek the pleasure of God. he said if the heart and mind is pure and the character reflects the actions of the Quran then this is the main way of achieving guidance.
He advised not to harbour hatred, enmity or jealously against others and to achieve happiness is to purify the inner self and outer self. He also advised that keeping close to the Quran will keep one away from any form of extremism and wrong doing.
He closed by encouraging everyone to seek the benefit of the Quran by reading it in the language most understood by the reader.
Sheikh Abu Bakr is currently visiting the United Kingdom and leading the Taraaweeh prayers in Mosques around the country. His trip was organised by Tayibbun Institute.
