On Saturday 5th of October Masjid At-Taqwa held its first grand charity bazaar at its new community centre and helped to raise £8500 for the suffering people of Syria.
There were over 50 stalls selling a variety of toys, jewellery, abayahs, home decoration items and much more. There was also a large selection of food items to enjoy on the day.
There was an overwhelming level of support from the wider community of Leicester who participated and helped to make the charity bazaar a successful event. There were generous donations from local shops such as Buxton Textiles, Shoe Queen and Crystal Boutique. There were also generous food donations from bakeries including Highfields, Ethel, East park road and cake smiles, as well as donations from fast food places including Al-Tazij, Zagros,and Blaze.
Activities include a henna & pampering section for ladies and a separate children’s corner with face painting and a bouncy castle (organised and paid for by members of LIA school).
The total amount of money raised on the day was over of £8500. All proceeds were forwarded to Human Appeal International, one of the few NGOs actively engaged in the affected areas of Syria.
May Allah reward all those who helped to support this cause in any way, may He help us to continue to support the suffering men, women and children across the world, and May Allah bring relief to the Syrian people.
