On Sunday 29th July Sh Sami and representatives of Masjid At-Taqwa attended the official opening of the new Pavillion in Spinney Hill park. The central pavillion is part of the £2.5 million refurbishment project introducing several new park features.
The event was well attended by members of the public as well as many community officials including the Leicester City Mayor Peter Soulsby.
Spinney Hill Park is a 34 acre sloping parkland situated less than a mile away from Masjid At-Taqwa. It has offered many leisurely/recreational facilities to all the community for over a 100 years.
Members of Masjid At-Taqwa attended the event to show their gratitude and appreciation towards the new facilities of the park and to thank all those who were involved.
Sh sami was introduced to the City Mayor as a visting Imam from Makkah who is leading the congregational prayers in Masjid At-Taqwa during the holy month of Ramadaan. Mayor Soulsby greeted Sh Sami with a warm welcome and thanked the whole team for attending the opening event.
The event also celebrated the park’s recent success in receiving its first ever Green Flag Award. This was part of the national scheme run by Keep Britain Tidy to recognise the UK’s best parks.
Masjid At-Taqwa is pleased to have a such wonderful park within close proximity servicing the recreational needs of the community.
